Mission to Kievsky District of Donetsk

Today ‘Donbass Humanitarian Aid’ fund brought 60 roofing tiles to Yelena Antonovna, a widow in the Kievsky District about 500 meters from the Donetsk airport. Her husband died before the war, and in 2014, her house got hit by the Ukrainian MRLS ‘Grad’. She was wounded, and the roof of her house was badly damaged. With help from her son and neighbors, she repaired her roof, but her house has gotten hit every year since. You may ask “What’s the use of fixing the roof if it’s only going to get hit again?” A leaking roof can totally destroy a house in a few years. We’ve got a single widow here, living under heavy shelling, including ‘Grads’, for over six years. OF COURSE we are going to help her! It was $180 for 60 roofing tiles, which means she’ll be warm and dry through the Autumn rains and Winter snow. We got a great deal, even the ‘Galaxy’ store where we bought the tiles donated free delivery, which was a huge help. And THANKS to ALL who contributed to our work! Even in tough times, we can still make the world a better place, together.

Home made water park in Snezhnoe

In the heat of Summer, one of our coolest projects yet! “Donbass Humanitarian Aid” got together with the parents’ group and kid’s club in Snezhnoye and did some more work on the Recycled Park. The park was built on the land of an abandoned house, all materials used were recycled or donated. On previous missions there, we contributed a trampoline, a projector for free Summer Movie Nights, even a small 3-D printer for the after school kid’s Science Club. This time, we donated plastic, hoses and a water pump for a home-made water slide and pool for the kids. Everybody pitched in to help with construction, and as you can see, the kids LOVE it! We also brought four cocoon swings and 3 wigwam tents for the kids to enjoy and we all had a real good time. This shows what can be done when good people work together for a good cause. We can do so much with just a little, but every bit helps. THANKS to all who did their part and contributed what they could. Together, we are making a better world for everybody, one kid at a time!

Summer. “Teremok” orphanage 

Two orphanages in one week! After our visit to the Special Needs Orphanage, we just had to drop in on the kids at Teremok Donetsk Orphanage #1. Again, new 6
swings and 3 wigwams for the kids to play in, along with bananas and sweets. All in all, over 80 kids in two different orphanages enjoyed the gifts and support from
Donbass Human Aid, this week alone! The war continues in Donbass, and life is not easy, but the most important mission, for all of us, is to create a better world for these kids and all the coming generations. THANKS to all who contributed to these missions.

DONETSK SPECIALIZED CHILD CARE CENTER

Several institutions, which throughout the war never stopped their work with children of different ages, contacted the ‘Donbass Humanitarian Aid’ Foundation with a request to help organize recreation for the children. Besides the war, because of the situation with the virus, the children are unable to travel to various places of recreation. Which is very sad, because now it is summer! It was decided to organize a small charity concert to raise funds and bring the children joy and a lot of fun to where they spend most of their time. The concert was performed by Anatoly Kosheparov (of ‘Pesniary’ music group) and the incomparable Elena Leshchinskaya with the support of the Russian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchate in Tampa, Florida.The concert was a great success, and due to the funds raised we purchased several ‘Cocoon’ swings and Indian wigwams, and bananas and sweets for 87 kids. Part of the funds raised will later be used to prepare children for school.On the first day, we arrived at Donetsk Specialized Child Care Center, where children undergo medical and social rehabilitation. Next day – at ‘Teremok’ Orphanage. Over the two days we have brought and installed 8 ‘Cocoon’ swings and 5 wigwams. And lots of bananas and sweets, of course! The kids were so happy and excited about their new swings and wigwams to play in! It was very fun and touching for all. It can be seen that the teachers and nurses who work there are very fond of the children and their work. We thank everyone who participates in these charitable missions (that will be continued) for the warmth of your hearts and for the assistance provided to the children of Donbass!

Baseball Season in DPR

Donetsk Little League is rockin’ and rollin’ and back on track! Six teams, games every weekend, practice every day but Monday. Over 100 kids are enjoying the summer and learning the great sport of baseball. THANKS to all who pitched in for the new gear! It was a tough mission, but we got ‘er done, and the kids really appreciate it and are making the most of it. The championships are at the end of August, so stay tuned!

Food delivery for Ilya

Christ is Risen!
Ilya Vladimirovich, 53 years old, a resident of Donetsk, who fell into a difficult life situation and remained cut off from relatives in Ukraine due to the war and quarantine restrictions, applied to the ‘Donbass Humanitarian Aid’ fund. For a long time he’s lived penniless, selling off some old property after his mother’s death in October 2019 from cancer. He often had to starve for lack of work.  Moreover, he isn’t able to work right now because of very poor health after suffering from stresses with mom, after undergoing pneumonia in January 2020 and two heart attacks (the last one in March 2020). At the moment, his immunity is weakened so, that he, presumably, got erysipelas of his left foot. The fund has purchased a wide variety of food products for the long term. From the personal funds of the volunteers, some money was allocated for future expenses for Ilya’s med examinations and treatment. We thank all the donors due to whom this mission has become possible even in such a difficult time for everyone!  May the Lord save us!

Easter gifts for Olga’s family

Human Aid Mission to Khanjonkovo. We visited Olga, a Grandmother on a pension who is taking care of the six orphans who were left when their Mom (Olga’s daughter) died. Our fund has been supporting them with food for several years, and this time out, we brought masks (made in DPR!) Clorox and extra cleaning supplies along with the usual food delivery. When times are tough, it’s even more important to pitch in if you can, because all good people are one big family, and that’s what families do. Thanks to all who helped, and God bless you all. Baseball team of Donetsk

Back in July 2019 we started a fundraiser for the Donetsk Little League. Donbass Human Aid pitched in $1,000 plus $300 delivery and our friend Ernest Henry did a FB fundraiser that raised $700 more. Well, almost 8 months and a LOT of hard work later, the first and main shipment has arrived – 2 full catcher’s outfits, 20 gloves, 2 dozen baseballs, 2 dozen practice baseballs, 2 dozen practice softballs, half a dozen bats.
We ordered all the stuff from the States (FLA) and get everything shipped to NYC, where a Russian friend helped with shipping to Moscow. From Moscow, Luis brought everything to Rostov and then across the border to Donetsk. We brought the gear to the kid’s practice at a local sports club. Needless to say, they were delighted! Thanks to everyone who participated in this project.

Children of Petrovskiy district

February 13th, “Donbass Humanitarian Aid” returned to Petrovsky District to help 4 families and bring some sports equipment for School #103 in Donetsk in the ‘red zone’.
First, we met Olya, a cute 11 year old redhead whose house is literally in the No Man’s Land between DPR and Ukrainian positions. Her Mom was killed by shelling, her Dad is deprived of parental rights. She lives with her Grandmom, Uncle and Brother. Brother was wounded going to school, Uncle lost both legs from shelling.
We brought 5 basketballs, 3 volleyballs and 2 soccer balls to the school. The kids are real athletes, and really appreciated these gifts. The soccer balls they had were losing skin and peeling, the basket balls were more lemon shaped than round. They have real skills in sports, and it is a shame for them to not have even the most basic equipment. Three other families with disabled kids were visited – we brought food, medicine and pampers. The pampers are a MAJOR item – they are expensive, many families can’t afford them, but they make a huge difference in the quality of life, not only for the disabled kids, but for the loving parents who care for them. BIG THANKS to everyone who contributed to Donbass Human Aid for this project.
